Together We Learn! As this year’s theme states, it has certainly been a year of community learning with so many new and exciting developments happening at YCIS! We welcomed the new middle school program and the exciting flexible learning spaces on the new second floor, we introduced middle school Jr. House Captains and Jr. Prefects, we welcomed several new teachers and students to our learning community, and we have enjoyed the new monthly whole school gatherings just to name a few. Personally, one of the highlights of my year was getting to work with the outstanding group of young men on the B-boys basketball team. Seeing them develop, not only as players and team members, but as young men of character makes me incredibly proud! Another memory that stands out is the Chinese Cultural Days leading up to CNY. Seeing the variety of talent showcased in the Dragon Dance, student Chinese dance teams, and the culminating CNY all school celebration assembly reinforced the blessing we have to live, work, play, and learn together in a place were the best of East and West meet! As YCIS moves into its 85th year in 2017-18, I eagerly await all that is to come. From my family to the whole of the YCIS family, thank you for being a part of what makes this place so special. Go YCIS Moon Bears!!
